Do you accept all insurances?
We accept most all insurance plans. Do not hesitate to contact us and we can check if we are in-network with your particular insurance plan. At this time, however, we do not accept self-pay patients.
How long should it take a typical wound to heal?
Typical non healing wounds SHOULD heal within 12 weeks or less. If you have had your wound for longer than this duration and are being seen elsewhere, please contact our team.
If I am interested in making an appointment, how do I go about doing so?
Please go to the “Contact Us” page and select “Patient” before emailing us your message on which location you are interested in being seen, dates you are interested in being seen, and the reason why you need to be seen. You can also call our main number if that is easier for you. Either way, we will ensure that someone gets back to you as timely as possible.
Are there telemedicine opportunities for me to be seen?
Yes, we do have telemedicine availability for both initial consultation and / or follow-up care. Although we do not promote telemedicine in wound care since wounds require physical procedures to heal, we will be able to individualize care based on patient needs.
Why do I have to go every day for hyperbaric oxygen therapy if I need the treatment?
Once tissue levels saturate with oxygen, for the therapy to effectively lead to angiogenesis, enhancement of antibiotic effects, and / or edema control, as an example, consistent therapy must be followed. Otherwise, these effects are not “triggered” without consistent tissue levels of oxygen.
Do I need a referral from my physician to see a wound care specialist?
UNLESS you have an HMO plan or a specific Medicaid plan, you do not require a referral to see our wound care specialists. You may certainly refer yourself directly and we will always keep your primary care physician in the loop should you desire us to do so.
When should I consider going to a wound care specialist?
Because we generally deal with chronic, complicated wounds, we recommend that you see our wound care specialists if you have had your wound for greater than 2 weeks. However, if you are unsure, you are welcome to contact us any time.
Why do I have to go every week for wound care?
Chronic wounds require consistent debridement (cleaning) to remove dead tissue and allow clean, good tissue to heal. The body knows better than to heal over debris, and the wound will only begin contracting once the dead tissue is removed and addressed.
